Do you offer both heated and non-heated classes?
We have two studios at our location. Our Tapas (heat) Studio is heated via infrared panels, and our Moksha (freedom) studio is held at a comfortable room temperature. Various class styles are held in both studios in order to provide options for all yogis!
Why the heat?
As the body is heated both externally and internally, many benefits are received. These include but are not limited to:
Heat allows your muscles and connective tissues to become more elastic, increasing the depth of each pose in the practice as well as reducing the chance of injury.
Your body will burn fat more effectively as fat is burned and distributed during class. It is common to notice a loss of centimeters in a very short time!
The heat produces a fluid-like stretch that allows for a greater range of movement in joints, muscles, ligaments, and other supporting structures of the body.
Capillaries dilate in the heat allowing the tissues, muscles, glands, and organs to oxygenate more effectively. This helps in the detoxification process. The toxins are ultimately eliminated through sweat.
Your metabolism speeds up the breakdown of glucose and fatty acids.
Heat promotes the functioning of the body’s T-cells, improving the functioning of the immune system.
The environment is challenging; you will increase your self control and ability to focus.
What if I feel out of shape and not flexible?
Great news! You do not need to be in shape or flexible to benefit from the practice of yoga. Yoga is for EVERYbody at any stage in the game. By practicing regularly you will notice your physical health improve as well as your flexibility. Touching your toes is NOT a prerequisite to yoga. We promise.
What class should I take?
At yoga V there’s a class for everyone! Check out our classes and find out which one is right for you!
How often should I practice to get the best results?
This is a tough one to answer as everyone is different, but as with anything, consistency and dedication make all the difference. It all depends on what you are looking for as an individual. Any time you practice yoga you are giving your body a gift. Two to three times a week will provide you with a transformation over time. However, for life changing results, it is recommended to practice four to six times a week on a consistent basis.
Should I practice if I’m pregnant?
It is not recommended that students start a heated yoga practice while pregnant. However, generally speaking, yoga can be very safe and beneficial for expecting mamas. Each student is encouraged to listen to her own body throughout her pregnancy. Individual limitations should always be respected. In addition, we periodically offer specialized Prenatal Yoga. In all instances, yoga should not be practiced without the consent of a doctor.
What do I need to bring to practice?
Mat: Students are encouraged to buy their own mat once they have decided to practice on a regular basis. A good mat is key! Manduka and Jade mats can be purchased at the studio. Mats can also be rented for $2.
Water: Each student should bring a large water bottle to class and take advantage of our hydration station to keep it full. Students lose a significant amount of liquid during practice, therefore, it is encouraged to hydrate throughout the day before and after practice. The more hydrated your body is, the better your practice will be! Hint: Adding ice to your water will counter-effect the heat, so keep your water room temp!
IF HEATED CLASS: Large Towel(s): As our bodies heat up and we begin to sweat, our mats quickly become very slippery. To prevent slipping, each student should bring a towel to put over his/her mat and a face towel. A commonly used product used at yoga V is a flat towel called a yogitoe. Yogitoes can be rented for $3. We also sell mat and face yogitoes. These are super helpful in keeping you in place!
Can I just drop in?
Absolutely! We open our doors about 15 minutes before class. Just show up and we’ll get you set up!
Can I reserve a spot online?
Yes. You can create an account, register for a class, sign our waiver and buy classes. Download app here.
What should I wear?
Women: Fitted sports pants and or athletic shorts with a fit tank top and/or sports bra/athletic bra.
Men: Shorts. Depending upon if the class is heated, some men prefer to practice topless; however, fitted T-shirts will work as well.
Loose T-shirts are not recommended as they tend to fall over students heads when in a pose where the head is down.
I’m going on vacation, how do pause my auto-debit membership?
Ānanda Membership holders receive one (1) free 30-day pause and two (2) $10 30-day pauses every 12 months. All other memberships and Punch Pass holders (excluding Prema) receive 2, $10, 30-day holds.
What is the yoga V studio etiquette?
GIVE YOURSELF TIME Doors open 15 minutes before class begins. Doors will be locked during class. Please arrive with plenty of time to check in, set up, and begin on time. Wait in line at the front desk to be checked in. Even if you have already reserved a spot online.
LEAVE IT AT THE DOOR No shoes, gum, strong scents (on mat & body) or cell phones in yoga rooms. Please turn phones off or on vibrate once you have arrived, so not to be heard through walls. Let the instructor know if you must bring your phone in for an exceptional reason (silent only).
QUIET TIME Please refrain from conversation in the yoga rooms. Many students enjoy silence and meditation during their pre/post practice time.
SPACE FOR EVERYONE If the practice is full, please scoot your mat to create space for your fellow yogis. It can get crowded, but there is room for us all to practice closely. Be kind to new yogis-give them the back and middle rows to set up, so that they may watch and learn. New Yogis– don’t be shy about asking someone to scoot over.
HONOR YOURSELF If you need to rest during practice, please do so discreetly. Childs pose or lying on your back is the most effective and non-distracting way to re-center and regain your breath.
WE LOVE ANSWERING QUESTIONS AFTER CLASS During class, note the energy in the room. If students are flowing and working to stay present, please save questions for the instructor after class.
LET US KNOW & BE DISCREET We ask that students leave the room only when necessary, as it can be disruptive. If you must leave, please do so as discreetly as possible and let the instructor know before class.
SACRED TIME During Savasana, please find rest. Not only is it one of the most important aspects of your practice, but it provides a calm and silent space for your neighbors. This is not a good time to drink your water, blow your nose, or leave class.
What if I have an injury or feel unwell?
If you have an injury please get the all clear from your doctor before attending our classes. Make the teacher aware of all injuries before the class. Listen to what your body is telling you and move accordingly.
Please do not practice if you have a cold or flu as you risk more harm to yourself as well as others around you. Stay home and take rest. We reserve the right to refuse entry to class if you present unwell.
What is your late cancel and no-show policy?
If you need to cancel, this can be done via the MindBody App, and the yoga V website. Cancellations will also be accepted via phone and email.
If you’ve booked using a ‘Drop In’, or multi-class pass any no shows or absences will result in forfeiting that visit.
How do I purchase a Gift Card?
You can visit us at reception or email and we can help you out. We offer a range of Gift Certificate/Studio credit options. You can have them delivered directly to the recipient via email or you can simply print the card out and give it to them yourself.
What else should I know before I go?
Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach.
All classes are first come, first serve.
