Julie Schmalz teaches mostly heated power vinyasa classes. When you come onto your mat in one of Julie’s classes you can expect for the time to fly by as you will be moving and creating heat through dynamic breath centered flows to some upbeat music. Julie teaches well rounded flow classes that guide students to build heat, lengthen and strengthen body and mind. In her own practice, she loves to not only become more mindful from verbal cues but also adjustments so you can expect that in the classes she teaches.

She has been practicing yoga since 2004 and just celebrated her 11th yogaversary as an instructor at YogaV. Julie came to yoga, as many do, to improve her physical health and was inspired to stick with the practice for everything else it added to her busy life as a mother of four, wife and full time educator. Yoga truly inspires Julie to be more mindful of her body and mind, on and off the mat.

Julie graduated from her 200-hour teacher training in 2010 and has been teaching and continuing to learn and improve her practice and instruction ever since. Julie has been inspired by many teachers including Tiffany Cruickshank, Kathryn Budig and Sean Corne but her main inspiration is her daughter Mallory Hainey.
