Why Far Infrared (FIR)?

 

FIR heats differently than traditional heating systems. FIR does not heat the air like most heating systems. The FIR rays that are emitted from ceiling panels like those in the tapas studio, heat objects (students). FIR rays penetrate about 2 inches into the human body causing capillaries to dilate, increasing blood flow in the tissues. In addition, the FIR causes activation of water molecules and vibrational resonance of fat cells which stimulates sweating and a detoxification of the tissue. AKA health benefits! Therefore, the health benefits of hot yoga with FIR heating are greater than hot yoga in a room full of just hot, humid air! 

The FIR energy that is absorbed by the students is then reflected and conducted into the air which raises the air temperature during class while sweating increases the humidity. The greater number of students in the class, the faster the room air will heat.  At yoga V Studio, we try not to exceed 100 degrees in the heated studio, although temperatures could go higher.  The front of the room is typically hotter than the back, so position your mat accordingly.
