What Is Calling You?
This class/workshop is for students looking for a little more personal attention in learning their asanas (physical poses). Discover: New to Yoga is for students wanting to understand the basic alignment, breath, and movement that is a part of the Vinyasa styled practice. There are also various Discover classes (Inversions, Twisting Poses, Balance poses, etc) each month as well for any practioners looking to delve deeper into various other poses. In Discover, you can expect both practice and conversation. This is the perfect opportunity to ask all the questions you as well as to go deeper into poses you may be curious about! These classes are limited to 6 students, so students must reserve their spot ahead of time.
Just as we tend to our bodies in staying strong and flexible, we must also tend to the mind. There is a time to lean into challenge and discomfort, and there is a time for deep rest. This class aims to re-center. For many of us living in the chaos of our lives (taking care of others, work, illness, etc), coming on to our mats to receive is the best thing we can do for ourselves. Come, re-center, breathe deeply, and receive.
This Vinyasa styled class links breath to movement as students ‘flow’ from one pose to another. Depending upon the practice and/or the instructor, the flow may be faster paced or slow and concise. Either way, students are sure to step into and through challenge on their mats.
Yoga V’s Hot 26 + 2 series is intended to open, strengthen and tone the muscles while helping to detoxify the body and calm the mind. This beginner level class is based on Bikram Choudhury‘s 26 Hatha Yoga posture sequence. Each posture provides a specific medical benefit to a specific part of the body. We do 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises that systematically work every part of the body, to give all the internal organs, all the veins, all the ligaments, and all the muscles everything they need to maintain optimum health and maximum function. Students will benefit from these postures which help burn fat, improve circulation, and strengthen the immune system. Be prepared to sweat.
FREE FOR VETERANS! PLEASE NOTE To participate in this class, students must first stop by the veterans art center with proof of military service (military ID and DD214) and let them know you would like to sign up for the veterans yoga program at yoga V. Rental mats are limited so if you have a mat please bring it; all other equipment is provided by the studio.
